Iron on appliques and embroidered patch setting instructions using an Iron

  •   Step 1: Pre-heat to cotton setting (or if unsure of your fabric, one or two settings lower).

·         DO NOT USE STEAM DURING APPLICATION!

  •          Step 2: Place your applique or embroidered patch in the desired position and place a pressing cloth (such as a handkerchief, sheet or pillowcase fabric) over top.
  •          Step 3: Press the iron straight down for 35-45 seconds with as much constant pressure as possible. NO BACK AND FORTH.
  •         Step 4: Turn the garment inside-out and repeat steps 2 & 3 if needed.
  •        Step 5: Allow the applique or embroidered patch to cool down.

If designs are delicate (those containing beads or sequins or made of sensitive fabrics like vinyl) or thick like puffy designs, the heat must be applied from the back of the applique.  Place applique on garment and cover with protective cloth.  Apply heat for 5 -7 seconds to hold design in place.  Turn over and heat from the back for 20 - 25 seconds.

Check your fabric to be sure it can tolerate the required heat.  If necessary, reduce heat and extend dwell time.  You may need to experiment until you find the ideal combination of time.
