Mannlicher Stock for Mauser 98 Custom Sporting Rifle Sporterized

Vintage Mannlicher style stock for a Mauser 98 Sporting rifle. The stock is in very good, usable condition. There are pistol grip checkering panel outlines and very faint checkering lines in some areas inside the outlines. It looks like someone sanded the checkering down to recut it, but never did. Both sling swivels have light rust. The reinforcing bolt is burred and proud of the surface on the left side of the stock. The fore end cap and screw are missing. The area where the cap would be attached has been filed or sanded. There is glass bedding present in the forward action area and extending the full length of the fore end. I have included a picture with a standard military Mauser 98 bottom metal. It show significant gaps around the bottom metal (the bottom metal in the picture is for display only and not included in the sale). The stock has been fitted with a Pachmayr Old English style pad. The length of pull shown in the pictures (12 3/4") is from the CENTER OF THE REAR ACTION SCREW HOLE. I measured from that point as there is not a trigger to measure from. As there are many variations in Mauser 98 actions, barrel contours, and bottom metals this stock will require gunsmithing work to remove and/or add bedding material for installation.
